Years Training- 4.5
How did you get started with health and fitness?
I was very athletic but I discovered training in a gym when 17 year old. I was studying in Police Academy and I had to add muscle mass to my small frame. I met my boyfriend at school and at the gym and since then I have been training consistently.
Tell me what led to your first bikini competition?
Everyone in the gym kept telling me how much potential I had and how fast I progressed. They kind of pressured me to enter my first bikini competition at the age of 17 I finished first in my category. I loved every second of this experience and it was a really cool challenge.
What is your biggest source of motivation, What drives you?
I don’t want to be average, I want to get my body to the next level and push my limits every single day. I surround myself with driven and positive people, they help me achieve my goals (business and fitness wise.)
What does a typical day look like for you? A day in the life of Cath….
I wake up at 8:30 am, eat breakfast and play with our two dogs. Leave for work at 9:30, I work for Rise as a marketing and social media manager. I take care of that (I love my job) and then hit the gym around 5:30. I record clips of my life and workouts and after training I edit my video or head back home for cleaning, cooking or laundry. At 9:30, Marc and I watch an episode of one of our favorite TV series then we shower and go to bed and it starts all over again the next day.
Besides training in the gym, what do you do for fun or to unwind?
I really enjoy taking care of my two dogs, going for walks with them. I also watch a lot of TV series like Game of Thrones, Vikings, Sons of Anarchy, Arrow etc. I’m into watching the latest movies at the movie theatre. I like to invite my friends and family and prepare a nice meal for them. I’m a simple person!
What does your current diet look like and what is your goal?
I have a National show this summer so I’m starting to clean up my diet and I try to eat loads of protein. I eat around 2000 calories a day and it’s all whole food like meats, eggs, vegetables, sweet potato, basmati rice, fruits and nuts. Whole food is what makes me feel the best and I don’t feel deprived eating healthy food like that. Processed food doesn’t attract me at all.
What is your current training routine?
At the moment, I train legs and glutes a lot! Monday is: Legs Tuesday is: Back and Shoulders Wednesday is: Legs again Thursday is: Back and Shoulders Friday: You heard it… Legs, Saturday is rest day and Sunday is Yoga or anything that’s active but not brutal for my body.
If you could tell the younger version of you that’s just starting out in the gym, one piece of advice, what would it be?
Go heavy! In my first year of training I was afraid to go heavy, maybe it kept me away from injuries but I felt like I was not giving my full potential.
What can new subscribers expect to see on your YouTube channel?
Myself… laughing a lot and training legs! I also show random stuff, I don’t stick to training and nutrition stuff I want to share my positivity with my followers and bring energy and joy when they watch my videos.
How did you become a sponsored athlete and what made you decide to join forces with these particular companies?
I think building your social medias is a great way to get the companies attention at first. Being true to yourself and showing you believe in the brand is also very good start. I’d also recommend taking professional pictures taken and producing good content for your followers. I don’t join companies in which I don’t believe it, I won’t promote anything that I don’t personally use and trust.
What are some of your greatest achievements to date, in work or in life?
I think winning a lot of fitness competitions was a great achievement to me before but right now just meeting followers telling you how they changes their life because of you makes me really proud. I’ve also been able to pursue my own path and I created blinders for all the naysayers and negative people around me. It made me stronger than ever.
If you woke up one day and could no longer be involved with the fitness industry what would you do instead?
I like to help people so I’d probably pursue my career in the police, I’d want to help victimes of sexual abuse or something like that. Another thing would be having a farm with lots of animals to take care of.
What countries has your fitness career taken you to and where would you love to go next?
I am Canadian and I was able to travel to Australia, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, United States and I’d love to visit Europe even more.
